Admissions to Roby Mill
Thank you for considering Roby Mill CofE Primary school for your child.
Our catchment area covers towns and villages across Lancashire including Roby Mill, Up Holland, Appley Bridge, Skelmersdale, Wrightington, Orrell, Parbold and Wigan.
We hold an annual open day every Autumn for prospective and current parents. Otherwise, we are happy to arrange personal tours of our school facilities. You’ll receive the warmest welcoming atmosphere and discover a nurturing, safe learning environment.
Pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
We welcome pupils with SEND in line with our School Admission policy. We are aware of our statutory requirements under the SEN and Disability Act and commit to meeting the Act’s requirements. We work closely with parents to understand each child’s need for SEND provision.
How the admissions process works
Reception children are admitted in the school year (September to August) in which they turn five. Children are normally admitted at the beginning of the school year, however we can accept in-year admissions. See below for more details.

Applying for a Reception class place
- Apply online to the Local Education Authority. If we are oversubscribed for the current year, the Board of Governors will apply agreed criteria as set out in our school admissions policy.
- If your application is successful, the local authority will notify you in April to offer a place for your child to start school that September.
- To help smooth your child’s transition to primary school, during the summer term we’ll invite you to a comprehensive induction programme for parents and children.
School admissions open on Sunday 1st September 2024 for children due to start primary or secondary school in September 2025 at: https://www.lancashire.gov.uk/children-education-families/schools/apply-for-a-school-place/
